Lemon Rice, Sambar, Halwa, Butter Milk [Sathya and Vaishnavi]

Lemon Rice

Ingredients
Rice
Lemon
Salt
Whole Red chillies
Peanuts
Urad dal
Mustard seeds
Chana dal
Curry leaves
Ginger and green chilli paste
Oil
Turmeric

Preparation
Boil rice first. Then in a pan, heat oil, add urad dal, chana dal, red chillies, mustard seeds, peanuts and fry. Then add ginger and green chilli paste, curry leaves, turmeric.
Then add this in the rice, add lemon juice, salt and mix well.

Sambar

Ingredients
Tur dal
Tamarind
Vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, beans, etc)
Sambar powder
Salt
Sugar
Mustard seeds
Jeera
heeng
Oil
Preparation
Add oil (very little), add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, after they splutter add all the cut vegetables, stir for a while and then add water and tamarind pulp and then add salt, turmeric and sugar and let the vegetables boil and then in the end add sambar powder and mix.


Halwa recipe (for 4 people)

Ingredients
½ cup sooji
¼ cup unsalted butter
¾ cup sugar
1.5 cups water
Cardomom powder
Boil sugar and water together. In a pan heat the butter and add the sooji/semolina and stir it till the semolina turns brown. Then add the water and cardamom powder and stir till it thickens. Serve hot.

Buttermilk
Curd, water, salt and cumin powder. Mix all the ingredients and blend in a mixer.
